Guidelines for AXS TCA Compliance: Category A & B
The AXS is approved for use in both Category A and Category B Type-Approved OBM systems.
In order to comply with the TCA requirements, the below guidelines must be followed:

Installation
Install the AXS Truck Scale following the steps in the Quick Reference User Guide supplied with the unit. Complete an Installation Record at the time of setup. The OBM unit must be wired to a switched power source that activates with the ignition, and securely fastened using an Airtec screw lock. Record the screw lock serial number in the Installation Record.

Calibration
The AXS Truck Scale must be calibrated before initial use and re-calibrated every 6 months. Each calibration must be documented in the Calibration Record.

LOC Code
TCA Type-Approved OBM units must be protected with a PIN code to prevent vehicle operators from tampering with calibration settings. Access to this code is restricted to authorised calibration technicians only.

Maintenance
If any maintenance is required on the OBM system, the Truck Scale must go through the maintenance check. Each maintenance event must be recorded in the Maintenance record.

Mobile App
Operators are advised to use a smartphone or tablet with the mobile app to wirelessly connect to all SmartOBM Truck Scales on the vehicle. Airtec recommends saving weight records at both the start and end of each journey.

Telematics Device (Cat B Only)
The prime mover must be fitted with an approved telematics device, which must be connected to the Airtec SmartOBM system.
TCA Compliance
The AXS is a Transport Certification Australia (TCA) Type-Approved Mass Sensor Unit part of the Type-Approved On-Board Mass (OBM) system. The TCA organisation approves automotive technology that follows a set of guidelines to ensure consumer safety and device reliability. For more information visit: tca.gov.au.
